A Week of Inspiration
So this week we had a special guest, Mike Mansfield, come in and give us a presentation on Greek life and it's possibilities here at MSU and things we can work on to help foster its growth and addressing problems we face that prevent us from reaching our goals of campus domination haha. This presentation was actually really helpful because like a most of the other houses here my fraternity has had an exceptional year so far in rebuilding not only our house but our foundations and expanding capacity. Mike is an alumnus from SAE and is an extensively involved greek advisor. The amount of advice he can give to all of the houses is ridiculous. He has basically doen everything a fraternity could do and was there to help get his own chapter chartered. We went over ideas on how to expand the awareness and transparency of the greek system as well as how to increase our advertising. I mean as well as being an experienced greek the man's a great inspirational speaker. I left that class feeling like I could single-handedly fix my house and get a hundred new pledges. I was thinking that I might try and book him for one of our meetings so he could make everyone else feel like I did. With speakers like him this class is giving me hope that I can actually do something for my house.

Service
Being the President of Kappa hasn't been easy and now that school has started I really don't think it will get any easier. But this is why I decided to take this UC 200 course, Leadership Foundations. One of our assignments is to blog about our experiences and assignments in this class. Our first one is about our philanthropy events and to describe how I plan on spending my time on them. Usually Kappa Sigma does a variety of philanthropies, but this year I wanted to focus on a certain few so I can dedicate our time to improving those organizations rather than a little bit of help across the board. I plan on dedicating a lot of our time to military organisations.
